York Ice Trail
/February across York
Whenever I hear the familiar buzz of chainsaws wielded by groups of men and women wondering around central York I know that either the Ice Trail or the annual tourist cull has begun. Top tip, if its February your safe as its probably the Ice Trail.
The Ice Trail is a favourite in York's calendar and its the biggest outdoor ice trail in the UK - to be fare i’m not sure there are that many but lets not quibble.
Every February the Trail turns York into a sparkling ice sculpture city lasting 2 days. To join all you have to do is pick up a trail map from the Visit York Information Centre or find one online. Then off you go to find out which sculptures are where and see how many you can spot!
Along the way you will also find live carving, hands-on experiences (sounds saucy but isn’t) and the chance to win great prizes involving a lot of ice puns from local businesses that have spent a few weeks thinking them up..
My Favourite Ice Trail playlist
Ice Ice Baby - obviously but less keen now that Vanilla has gone all Trumpy
Ice Saw you standing there by The Beatles
Anything by Ice Cube
Coldplay - judge away but I like them
