York Chocolate Festival
/March and September across York
Everything is known for something - Milton Keynes has its roundabouts, Leicester has a dead king in an NCP car park, I myself was known at school for my collection of pens and my briefcase - and obviously being extremely cool.
Ask anyone from York what its famous for and they may not say Romans and and Vikings or having a lot of pens, they will most likely say Chocolate. Thats because York is the home of chocolate due to a few cleaver families taking a bitter black pod and mixed it with lots of yummy sugar and milk along with a lot of marketing to create the modern day chocolate industry.
The Festival takes place twice every year bringing together Chocolate industry and confectioners, chocolate lovers, artisan chocolatiers, museums and attractions for five days of chocolate celebration.
There is always lots to do including : Chocolate Sculpture Gallery, Taste Trail, Masterclasses, Workshops, and Tastings.
My favourite dishes that involve chocolate
Mint surprise - Take an After Eight Mint box, eat them all, carefully put all wrappers back in box and leave on table ready to be served
Pan fried minstrels - Empty into pan (don’t heat pan just take it to your sofa, eat contents from pan by sucking each one carefully until you cant take it anymore and have to crunch
Strawberry leftovers - find the chocolate selection box - any one will do as long as it was opened a few days ago. Empty out all the remaining chocolates - they will all be the strawberry ones. Eat them in one go and feel rather sick
