York walks - The York Outskirts Walk
/This is a walk we don’t do with the dog because of short legs and age - but enough about my wife - the dog isn’t keen either because its a very long walk.
The 3 hour walk will take you on a tour of both the city and its historic outskirts as well as some nice tranquil time along the banks of the River Ouse - so check the river levels before you leave or you may need wellys or a dinghy.
One thing to keep in mind is that dogs are not allowed on the walls, so it maybe best to keep fido at home for this one or just avoid the walls section.
Things you will come across on your way in the city include::
York walls
York Minster
The Shambles
Things you will come across on your way in the outskirts include:
Bishopthorpe Palace
Terry's chocolate factory
If you are very lucky, the ice cream boat
One last thing, don’t under any circumstances get up on a lovely sunny Sunday in July and decide to take your whole family on this walk “because it will be fun” I can’t stress that highly enough.
