York walks - The York Racecourse Walk
/The 1530 from York is not a Horse Race or the 11am York to Kings Cross train / replacement bus service - its the estimated date that they first started racing horses at The Knavesmire.
Knavesmire is York’s Racecourse but when there are no races on it is a rather good circular dog walk through the grass space inside the racecourse that most days is open for public access.
The good news is that its very easy to spot if its a Race Day on this walk because there will be lots of people cheering you on - and loads of horses trampling you.
The other good news is that The Knavesmire is a really sociable place as there are usually plenty of dogs to play with and the locals are often willing to have a chat about the weather or how annoying all the cyclists and joggers are.
Lastly, and this is always the most important piece of information. for any walk, there is a great little cafe half way round where you can get fab coffee and a bowl of water for fido.
The waypoints are:
Start at Grandstand
Grandstand to Woodland
Woodland to End
