York Walks - The Rowntree Park Walk
/Due to my dogs complete lack of training / respect for me / enjoyment of hearing me shout Mabel in an increasing level of volume and anger - sorry a bit of triggering there, let’s start again.
Due to my dogs inquisitive nature I know nearly every inch of Rowntree Park - all 20-acres of it. The park is not only a great and relatively short walk but it is also packed with other stuff including children’s playgrounds, tennis courts, bowling greens, basketball courts, a skateboarding area and a bloke thats often there in the morning shouting “MABLE, come here” for around 10 minutes.
The park also has a large lake, a canal thats home too some ducks, swans and Canada geese (mind out for the poo).
If you fancy a bite to eat the you can also visit the Rowntree Park Reading Cafe where you will find books, magazines and a great menu of fab food and drinks - my favourite is the tuna melt.
If you fancy a longer walk you can leave the park and then continue to walk down the river into or out of town.
Park Life
If the river is flooded the the park will be as well
Don’t feed the geese they produce enough crap for me to dodge as it is
The children’s zip line is fun but I’ve found you get a lot of looks from other parents if you hog it
