Cresci Pizzeria and where to find the York Discount Vouchers to eat for less
/20 Piccadilly, York YO1 9NU
My first boyhood experience of pizza was the Findus French Bread Pizza - which involved what could loosely be called a baguette, some tomato sauce, cheese and weird small cubes of tomatoes that could also have been peppers. The pizza was also cleverly designed to give you 3rd degree burns on the roof of your mouth from the very first bite.
I am happy to report that Cresci pizzas are a lot better than Findus. In fact they are a lot better than most of the other pizza places in York. In fact I would go as far as to say that Cresci Pizzeria is the best place for pizza in York.
They are the real deal, not french, no baguettes no deep crusts filed with stuff, no pineapple - its Neapolitan pizza using imported ingredients that are kneaded, fermented, topped, cooked and served so that the dough is incredibly light and airy, a hallmark of authentic Neapolitan pizza.
You can dine in but I think Cresci is the perfect answer to the Friday night question - shall we get a take out?
What we love to eat there
My go to pizza is the Alleanza which has Fior di Latte mozzarella, onions, Lardo di Colonnata (cured pork fatback), basil and pecorino cheese.
If I fancy a spicy one then I go with the N’duja Pizza - its a spicy sausage pizza which is really rather good
