Ippuku Tea House York Japanese Food and where to find the York Discount Vouchers to eat for less
/15 Blake Street, York YO1 8QJ
We lived in Hong Kong for 18 years which my friends will tell you I continually bang on about by starting my sentences with “when I lived in Hong Kong”
Anyway, when I lived in Hong Kong there was great Chinese food but when I lived in Hong Kong the other thing I noticed and acted on daily was that it has bucket loads of amazing Japanese restaurants - so, when we get an itch for Japanese food we always go to Ippuku Tea House and go and oder food from them by saying when I lived in Hong Kong….
Its the tastiest and most authentic Japanese food in York as well as having fab matcha tea that makes it my younger daughters favourite York restaurant.
Its located in the centre of the city on Blake Street - but be warned its small and if you don’t want to queue you will need to get there before they open at 12 or call and make a reservation - which never happened to me in restaurants when I lived in Hong Kong.
What we love to eat there
Gyoza Tesishoku (6 chicken / pork / veg dumplings that are steamed and pan fried)
Gyu-Don (beef and onions stewed in a traditional sauce with spring onions and ginger / beatroot pickle)
The Miso soup is also fab
The Bento Boxes make a great take away to eat in the sunshine or in the restaurant garden
They have lots of different tea’s and they are all good but the stand out one is the matcha (powdered green tea)
