York Dungeon and where to find the York Discount Vouchers to visit York attractions for less
/York Dungeon, 12 Clifford St., York, Yorkshire, YO1 9RD
Just be careful that you get the right place - my first visit to what I though was York Dungeon was not really my cup of tea - but Mistress Margareta was very understanding when she realised I was asking about Dick Turpin - not wanting one.
A good way too think of This York Dungeon is that it’s a one hour performance that you are guided through, peppered with a mix of actors, animatronics and special effects. Along the way you visit a variety of rooms where you find out something about York’s history from the Vikings to the Plague, Dick Turpin and Guy Fawkes.
I loved it - and learned a few things but there is room for improvement. Where for example is the room dedicated to the York ring road on a Bank Holiday or the mocked up Micklegate street filled with marauding middle aged Hen Parties?
This aside its well worth a visit, especially if you need somewhere dry and warm on a rainy York day.

If you book on line you will avoid queues and its a bit cheaper
Don't take really young children as there are lots of jump scares - but be aware they are great with kids that need special provision, for example they provide ear defenders and even stickers so children that don’t want to participate don’t have to
They do an 18+ late night tour but I don’t think its like Mistress Margareta’s
Sit at the front if you want to fully experience jump scares with people literally jumping out at you
